Terence studied at the Huazhong University of Science & Technology, China, where in 1987 he achieved a B.Eng. (Hons) Degree in Marine Technology / Naval Architecture. Over the next fourteen years Terence worked at shipyards in China holding various roles before appointment as project manager at the Sembawang Shipyard, Singapore, overseeing FPSO conversion projects. In 2001 Terence moved to the Shanghai Marine Centre of Bureau Veritas, gained a Level 4 (BV) Marine Surveyor qualification and performed managerial duties including the review of surveyors' reports for new construction projects. In 2005 Terence joined an international marine consultant company, where he was Chief Representative of their Shanghai office responsible for Far East operations.

In January 2011, Terence joined Braemar Steege as Principal Surveyor, Shanghai. Terence attends surveys and provides critical support to the Company's energy loss adjusting services in China.
