History
The first Braemar Steege office opened in London in 1975 but was moved to Houston, Texas in 1982 where the company was established as a major force in the energy adjusting sector.
In the mid-1990's the business was expanded to re-establish the office in London and add a Singapore office. Since 1998, Braemar Steege has continued to attract experienced professionals, who have been recruited to enhance the company's core adjusting and engineering resources around the world. Additional offices have been established in Mexico City, Caracas, Calgary, Miami, Rio de Janeiro, Quito, Lima, Jakarta. Exclusive other Group offices and representation agreements supply servicing capacity in Argentina, China, Chile. In 2001, a nine-man team led by Nigel Carpenter negotiated a management buyout (MBO) of Brian Steege's total interest in Braemar Steege, and in 2008 Braemar Steege joined the Braemar Shipping Services Group of Companies.

Nigel Carpenter CEO
Nigel's broad experience gained over 25 years adjusting marine and energy claims followed an early career at sea. Nigel has handled complex construction risk, property and consequential loss claims throughout the world. His principal concern is the maintenance of high professional standards throughout Braemar Steege, and Nigel continues to handle assignments as required, in addition to leading the Company.
Geoff Thomas Managing Director, London
Geoff joined Braemar Steege in 2006 following a long career in the Royal Navy where he specialised in submarine operations, ultimately Commanding both nuclear and diesel powered submarines. Qualified as a Master Mariner (RN equivalent), and as a specialist navigator, he holds a BSc in Systems & Management and has experience of over 25 years exposure to complex engineering systems in the maritime environment. Since joining Steege, Geoff has been able to apply his wealth of knowledge to the Marine and Energy insurance sector and he has adjusted claims involving subsea equipment, subsea pipelines, remotely operated vehicles, mooring systems and power plants, both on and offshore. Geoff's specialist maritime skills add to the extensive technical and insurance capabilities already held in the London office.
George Mowatt Technical Director
George's experience covers twenty-six years in the Offshore Oil and Gas Contracting Industry preceded by some nine years in Shipbuilding and Ship Classification. A Chartered Engineer he has a first class honours degree in Naval Architecture and a Doctorate in Structural Engineering.
George has had a highly successful career and been involved in all aspects of oilfield developments from initial concept screening through to installation and operations of completed platforms.
Grant Smith Managing Director of American Business Development
A commercial law graduate, Grant has a decade of experience adjusting energy and marine claims for the International Insurance market. Grant has managed a diversity of claims arising from large Construction All Risk (CAR) programs involving offshore platforms, large field developments, pipeline construction and installation Having worked in four of the Braemar Steege offices Grant has developed a wide range of contacts and an understanding of both the similarities and diversities within the Insurance and energy industries worldwide.
Chris Dye President / Managing Director, Houston
An honors graduate from the University of Lancaster majoring in geology and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Chris has been actively involved in oil and gas insurance claims since 1980. As Managing Director of Houston, Chris continues to handle high profile claims while supervising the work of the Houston team.
Keith Martin Managing Director, Latin America
Keith's adjusting career reflects his formal qualifications, backed up by considerable practical experience and linguistic skills. Having gained a Master's degree in Modern Languages, Keith joined Richards Hogg International in their hull claims department and spent time in London, Rotterdam and New York adjusting claims for European, Latin American and US clients. During this period he qualified both as a Fellow of the Association of Average Adjusters and as a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute before moving to Houston to head up the company's Latin American services. In 1999 he founded CTC's Mexico office. He then became principal energy claims executive for Taylor Risk Consulting in the USA as well as continuing to be responsible for CTC's hull adjusting in the Americas. Immediately before joining Braemar Steege, Keith was Leader of Energy Claims at Marsh in London. He now practises marine and energy adjusting in our Houston office, with particular responsibility for Braemar Steege Mexico and the Latin American region.
Roger Law Managing Director, Singapore
In 1994 Roger entered the loss adjusting profession. While specialising in well control, drilling rig and equipment claims, Roger has handled a broad spectrum of claims ranging from alluvial mining in southern Africa to pipeline sabotage in Turkey to offshore construction in China to power distribution systems in Indonesia. Roger has a First Class Honours degree in Mining Engineering and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
J.R.V. Kidwell Finance Director, Braemar Shipping Services Plc
Appointed a Director on 1 August 2002. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1988, and then worked in a number of financial roles for Carlton Communications plc between 1989 and 2001, leaving as Group Financial Controller. He was Finance Director of Boosey and Hawkes Music Publishers Limited until June 2002.
Q.B. Soanes Executive Director, Braemar Shipping Services Plc
Appointed a Director on 10 January 2007. He has worked as a sale and purchase shipbroker for most of his professional life and was a founding director of Braemar Shipbrokers Limited, which merged with Seascope Shipping Holdings plc in 2001 to form Braemar Seascope Group plc. He is joint Managing Director of Braemar Seascope Limited and has responsibility for business development in the Group. He is also Chairman of the Group's wholly-owned subsidiaries, Cory Brothers Shipping Agency Limited and DV Howells Limited.
